Overview
Functional Radar Material – Instead of turning your entire mesh into a Blueprint just to make it function as a radar, simply apply this material and it’s ready to work.
Easy to implement and customize. Connect as many screens as you want to a single radar Blueprint.
How to Install
- Open the Fab store and search for Functional Radar Material.
- Click “Add to project”.
- Place BP_Radar (or BP_InvisibleRadar) in your level.
- Assign your radar screen meshes to the Screen Actors array.
- Add the material Instance to your screen actor
- Add Tag to any actor you want to be detected.
Customization
The material instance and Blueprint expose the following parameters:
- Screen Image Texture
- Dot Color
- Dot Radius
- Render Target
- Start Enabled
- Rotations Per Second
- Range
- Screen Actors
- Detected Object Types
- Detect Tag
- Ping Sound
- Attenuation Settings
- Volume Multiplier
Notes
- The invisible radar actor can also be useful when the main radar is far from the screen, which could confuse the player when dots appear based on that distant radar's position. In this case, you can place the invisible radar actor near the screen actor and assign it, so detected objects appear on the screen relative to that screen's location.
- If you want to add another Radar actor to your scene and connect it to other screen actors, those screen actors must use a separate material instance with its own Render Target.
Changelog
- Initial release.
- Added Detection modes: Pulse and Sweep Scan.
